A&A reviews A FUTURE FOR FERALS: A Charity Anthology (Book 1)

A Future for Ferals: (A Charity Anthology Book 1) (eSpec Books)

edited by Danielle Ackley-McPhail

These are all science fiction and fantasy short stories, interspersed with short essays or anecdotes on the topic of feral cat rescues and placements. And lots of cat pictures.

My only quibble with this interesting and entertaining anthology is that I would not have started with the weakest story of the lot. But many, many stories here just shine with brilliance. Especially excellent is the paranormal murder mystery “Bodega Barry” by Marc L. Abbott–a name to watch. Also brilliant is “Sunday in the Park With Spot” by Keith R.A. DeCandido. And I love the steampunk tale “Meravat in the Maiden’s Tower” by
Jeff Young . There are stories by Lawrence M. Schoen, Jean-Marie Ward, and Aaron Rosenberg–and more.

It’s a solid book with a solid cause. Take a look.
