I have a fantasy manuscript that I am ready to send out. Does your magazine publish serials? Do you publish whole works. At 30,000 words, my work is more of a novella. As I edit, I may add an additional 1000 or so just adding more creative detail. I am a published novelist, poet, essay, fiction, and academic writer for teacher publications.
My fantasy is literary but action-packed and contains two juxtaposed stories, one is a dystopian story, the other story is about the plight of a young woman suffering from bulimia.
We do not publish serials.
Greetings! Please answer one question. What is your connection, if any, with the “Apex Magazine” associated with the domain “apex-magazine.com.” Is that another portal to the same magazine, or something different altogether? Thank you, and have a great weekend.
There is absolutely no connection whatsoever between Abyss & Apex Magazine and Apex Magazine. We publish Science Fiction and fantasy. Apex publishes horror.
Are there any physical copies? I have a friend who will be published here and I’d loved to have a complete collection of his published works.
We are online only.
Sorry to bother you via the comments section, but I was trying to sign up for your newsletter via the sign-up and kept getting an “error submitting form.”
We are changing our newsletter service. We’ll post on twitter/X when it’s done! @Abyss_Apex
Do you publish Urban fantasy short stories in your magazine.
Thank you and have a nice day.
Yes!
Under submissions, it shows the reading dates are Feb 1-7. Does that mean you want the manuscript submitted on those days? I thought maybe they could be submitted earlier and sit in a queue before reading.
There is no queue.
I’m writing to inquire if you’d be interested in reading my first fantasy novel of my multi-volume, genre-busting fiction series. The series combines spiritual, metaphysical, and quantum physical elements within a multidimensional narrative involving a cast of human and non-human characters.
The series focuses on Damien Azure, a world-famous writer who’s world is turned upside down after he’s stranded on an island off the Australian coast. In this first book, And When the sky was Open, he finds himself in a world populated by what had been thought to be mythological creatures as well as humans who are far more advanced than their counterparts and live in harmony with the Earth. However, this world and everything in it are trapped within an overpowering dark force. With a dragon and unicorn at his side, Damien comes to accept that he’s the catalyst to propel the next evolution of humanity by activating the last point in Earth’s energy grid.
This book, which is approximately 140,000 words (425 pages) brings together adventure, action, comedy, drama, quantum/science fiction, love stories, alternative historical fiction, and visionary fiction into a surreal, multipoint-perspective narrative that breaks not just the fourth but the fifth wall.
There are many side stories and levels to this book’s narrative that the reader may uncover based on how closely they read the novel. These separate narratives are fueled by specific characters that are intentionally influencing the story for a desired outcome. There are four such primary characters, each of whom has their own narrative that’s interwoven with that of others throughout the novel.
I see the target audience for this book as readers 16 years and older who are intrigued by existentialism and enjoy a multidimensional, multi-character themes with a complex narrative. The intricacies of the storyline are designed to lure the reader into expectations that make the plot twists all the more surprising. Also, anyone who likes mythological creatures will get a kick out of this book for sure.
I can have the publisher ship you a copy of this published novel, free of charge of course, if you so desire. I am currently working on the third novel in this 40 book series.
Thank you for your time,
Quintin Ian Hansen
