Respect
Stefanie Maclin
They found human remains
under streets, in New York.
On a rooftop, further south,
They found fragments of bone,
and grafts of skin.
One husband demands a test,
to read the DNA, the blueprints
in the blood.
While digging for a carport,
They find a necropolis
underneath the Vatican.
Families once picnicked there,
feeding milk or wine
to their dead.

Stephanie Maclin currently resides in Boston, where she works in accounting and manages to keep her sanity by penning poetry in quiet moments. She maintains healthy addictions to tea, choclolate, and lipgloss, and keeps a music collection, which is the only thing to blame for the eclectic–ness of her writing.”
