Best Be Ware

Rie Sheridan Rose

The marrow bones
in the wind

and on the
vast moor,
something howls….

They say the
will ride

searching for
to harvest
like grapes.

Best be ware
and lock
the bairns
in the cupboards.

‘Tis an
evil wind
that carries
the cry of
the horn

all heads
when the
rides by.
